SUMMER SKIRMISH UPDATES!
(yes, it’s lots of text and some of it repeats things posted elsewhere because it’s better to read it twice than not at all!)
- Yes, still looking for volunteers for artisans, ambassadors, and fighters!
- We have 2 tables from site, 1 table from storage, 1 table (thank you Christie Johnson) and could probably use one more table if someone has one to spare. We are responsible for supplying our own chairs.
- There will be food trucks on site and some water provided, but bringing a lunch is recommended.
- Recommended parking can be found at Master’s Academy (to the North of the MM) and at the Flames Community Arena (to the South, but the south gate will likely be locked). There is limited parking (labelled handicap on the map) accessible before 9 am and after 5 pm.
- If you are volunteering for set up, tear down, Saturday or Sunday for some of the day, please let Bjar the Blue know so that he can make sure your name is on the List for security at the gate.
- Set up is Friday 6 pm – 8 pm (or longer if we must). We are allowed to drive on site for set up and tear down so it’s a good opportunity to drop off gear. Bringing gloves and hammers is recommended.
- HL Althea has a large modern tent that we are using for an arming / changing tent that we will set up behind the pavillion.
- Tear down is Sunday 5 pm (ish) once the event is over and we are allowed to drive onto site. No, we can’t use the emergency gate beside us.
- The Volunteer Thank You BBQ is on Saturday after the site closes down for the day (about 6 pm).
- The weather forecast is for hot and cloudy but this is Calgary so be prepared for wind, rain, sun, bugs, etc.
- Artifacts like shields, helms, spinning wheels, etc. things that are safe for the public to touch are welcome! Artifacts that are sharp or dangerous should either be left at home or kept behind the tables unless there are two people to supervise it being brought out.
- You don’t need a membership to do a demo, but please do sign in on the Demo waiver for purposes of tracking and permission to use your image for promotional images.
