Witness as our heavy armored community battles for the right to call themselves Montengarde’s Champion of Armored Combat, the Dragonslayer!
Be amazed as the archers of Montengarde dedicate themselves with deadly precision to a tournament to determine Montengarde’s Champion of Archery, the Dragonblinder!
Enjoy revelry, friendship, and Montengarde’s legendary hospitality at this camping event held at a site in Delacour, located conveniently only twenty minutes east of Calgary.

Heavy Armoured Combat Championship – Dragonslayer
Organized by our current Dragonslayer, Lord Melchor De Bazán. Format details to be announced.
This annual tournament is Montengarde’s premier heavy armored tournament, and all comers are encouraged to test their mettle on the field. The brave and noble few who choose to vie for the title of Montengarde’s Heavy Armoured Champion, the Dragonslayer, are encouraged to submit their letters of intent after July 3, 2026. You must reside in Montengarde or the surrounding shires, have an active membership, and be willing to fulfill the responsibilities of a Champion of Montengarde.
Target Archery Championship – Dragonblinder
Organized by our current Dragonblinder, His Lordship Sigfuss Thorulfsson. Format details to be announced.
Those who choose to vie for the title of Dragonblinder are encouraged to submit their letters of intent after July 3, 2026. You must reside in Montengarde or the surrounding shires, have an active membership, and be willing to fulfill the responsibilities of a Champion of Montengarde.
Fencing Tournament – Mentorship Tournament
Organized by our current Dragonblade, His Lordship Arjun Singh.
An expansion on the round robin. Fighters will pair up, more experienced with less experienced. The round robin will still be comprised of individual duels, with the mentors in each pair encouraged to give constructive feedback.
The Cut & Thrust Tournament – Wins & Losses
Organized by Montengarde’s Knight Marshal, Jonker Allert Pierson.
We are excited to offer the first Cut & Thrust tournament in Avacal since 2020 at this year’s Dragonslayer! Format will be determined by participant numbers, but we hope to run a Wins & Losses-style tournament (similar to a Provost/Squire’s Tournament) to maximize the number of fights for everyone. Loaner gear will be made available by pre-arrangement. Please reach out to Allert if you’re interested in participating so authorizations can be finalized ahead of time! If there aren’t enough takers for a tournament, we will run an authorization workshop and open pickups instead.
Bardic Tournament – Roving Bard-Beyond-The-Filk
Organized by the Wild Rose Bardic Champion of Montengarde, Jocelyn the Undaunted.
I present to you roaming Bard-Beyond-The-Filk. The goal is to encourage folks to perform a variety of bardic arts in a relaxed setting in front of other folks (with their consent) and show off the amazing talent I KNOW we have in our kingdom. To be clear, there is nothing wrong with a good filk, but I’d love to see some other forms of bardic arts. Singers, dancers, instrumentalists, jugglers, poets, puppeteers, etc. I challenge you! Period, “perioid,” and new: bardcore/tavernwave pieces are welcome. More details to follow!
