Montengarde 12th Night Feast Menu:
Appetizer
Lightly salted unleavened baked maize served with a piquant nightshade reduction.
Main Course
Finley Broiled Boar Ribs seasoned with a coarse rock salt, black peppercorn and fresh garlic blend. Lightly glazed with a warm complex wolf peach compote.
Succulent fowl, Fire Roasted and garnished with a rosemary and sage blend.
Savory mealie with sweet capsicum.
Herb and spice infused bread crumb with diced root vegetable.
Seasonal Fresh Greens served with your choice of herb infused vinaigrette or a light cream and peppercorn drizzle.
Dessert
Malus Pumila baked in a dark molasses, honey and sweet cider nappe covered with a toasted virgin oat grain and sealed with a caramelized rapadura. Served with a lightly sweetened Chantilly Cream accent.

Rapier Tournament:

Good gentles of Montengarde and beyond! I have had the honour of being Your champion of rapier and it has come time for me to find my successor. On January 17th at Twelfth Night, a tournament will be held for the new champion to prove themselves and fight for the privilege of representing Montengarde. We invite fighters from home and beyond to come test the mettle of those who are vying.
Those who wish to vie must send a letter of intent to Their Excellencies Refr and Adís by January 10, 2025 and can be sent by email to: excellencies@montengarde.org
An inspiration is required, but they do not need to be present in body. However, please be prepared to embody your inspiration and paint a picture (with words) so that they may be honoured and acknowledged appropriately.
The tournament format will be as follows:
- Round Robin of all fighters.
- The top 4 vying fighters from the round robin will be semi-finalists, with the 1st place fighter facing the 3rd place, and 2nd place the 4th.
- Winners of each pairing will be finalists.
- Both semi-finals and finals will be fought best of 3 fights.

You’ve been around for a while – maybe a few months or a year or two. You’ve got some garb, you’ve got a name, you’ve tried out some activities, and now you want to take your game to the next level.
How do I develop my persona or improve my garb and armour? Who are the officers? What positions are needed in my local area and how do I get started in helping out? It seems like we need volunteers at every event – what are some of the different shifts people are posting about? What is largesse and why do we always need more? I have this skill set, how could I use that to improve my experience and the experience of those around me?
Join Sicillia for an info session and conversation about different ways to transition from a nervous newcomer to a contributing citizen!

Make Samurai Armour Lacing with Kuteuchi Japanese Loop Braiding

Before the kumihimo disc; before the marudai and takadai; From delicate wrapping of artistic Buddhist treasures to the hundreds of meters of lacing holding together a suit of O-yoroi samurai armour, eight-hundred years of Japan’s rich culture of braided cords was built on a loop manipulation technique now called kuteuchi.
We’ll start with a brief illustrated lecture on the history of Japanese braids. Then get your hands on some string to make a braid as seen on period suits of armour.
No experience necessary!

Come and paint your own ceramic tile while the instructor shares historical examples from various cultures and time periods! A premade greenware tile will be provided as well as underglazes and templates (or bring your own ideas)
Note: You will not be able to take your piece home as the instructor will take them back to the studio to bisque fired then clear glazed.They will be available for SCAdian courier or pick up in Montengarde approximately two weeks after the event.

Learn to sing easy period rounds. They’re a type of short song that can be mastered quickly, often sung in taverns. Course will include some rudimentary vocal techniques.
No musical experience required, only volume and a love of singing! Listeners are welcome on the condition that they promise not to throw fruit.
Songs will be suitable for most audiences. Children are welcome if accompanied by a caregiver.
Cost: $2 for handout and hot tea in lieu of ale. BYO goblet or heat-resistant mug.

Good day, everyone, Melchor here!
I have the privilege and honour of holding the Twelfth Night armoured tournament and with the (lots and lots of) help from many incredible people, there will be a Round Robin with some occasional pauses for bardic performance in between!
I would like you all to know that Allert Pierson has generously given his time to assist in running the lists for this tourney and will be taking registrations the day of the event. Please be sure to have your up-to-date fight authorizations ready!
There are prizes to be won, fun to be had, paperwork for me to do (still fun), and song to be heard! I hope to see many people there and for you to all have a wonderful time!
