Castelain Update

Greetings Montengarde and Friends,

I’ve had some folks asking about what a Castelain does so hear is a quick FAQ.

Does this mean Bjar is the Baron again?
Nope. This is strictly an administrative position.

So what is the job then?
The duties include:
– to act as liaison to the Crown
– to support the Seneschal as another officer where there would normally be Baron or Baroness (read as a second warm body for signing paperwork and a sounding board)
– to ensure the process to find candidates and organize a polling for the next Baron and Baroness.

But that sounds like being Baron again, so will Bjar be sitting in court and handing out awards?
Nope! A castelain does not act as the Baronial couple. They do not accept fealty, give out awards, or sit in court.

So how long will Bjar be doing this?
Until the next Baron / Baroness / Couple steps up.

What’s the timeline on that?
Their Majesties have approved a timeline and that’s going into a post all it’s own! TLDR – Aiming for Step Up at Dragonslayer for minimal disruption.
