At this upcoming Twelfth Night, January 18, 2025, there is to be a grand Tournament to choose the next Montengarde Emerald Rose, Champion of Arts and Sciences!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">January brings us into the middle of the darkest nights and coldest days. However, there is rejoicing to be had when we do the things that we love. These activities help bring us through these challenging times and into the bright light of the coming Spring.<br>Thus! The theme for the upcoming Tournament is What Inspires You?* Show us, through your chosen Art or Science, what brings you light and inspires you through these bleak winter months.<br>(* Please note that while we would love to see entries that follow the theme, it is not a requirement for entry. The middle ages were alive with street performers &#8211; Jongleurs, Magiciens, Acrobats, Dancer, Musicians &#8211; all vying for the attention, and the coin, of the thronging masses! But while the performers were seemingly unlimited the coin was not and so each would strive to outdo the others with their wit, charisma and skill!<br>And so shall it be on the eve of the 12th Night as we call on the Bards of Montengarde and neighbouring realms to compete in a brawl of the Buskers! Bring your best SCA appropriate performance of any style, filch, or period! Amaze and amuse the thronging crowds with your prowess and be judged by the coin that fills your caps, cases, or satchels!<br>Coins will be available for sale to the populace and spare hats will be provided for any bards without a head cover of their own. The winner will be whomever collects the most coin and all shall be donated towards the war wagon at the end of the night. An additional prize will be bestowed upon the bard who best embodies the spirit of the street performance!<br>So come! Busk a Move! Don\u2019t miss out, or you will Rue the Day! The tournament format will be a Round Robin (everybody fights everybody else once). Double kills are to be re-fought once, and then it shall be counted as a double loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Non-vying fencers are welcome to test mettle! There will be a prize for highest number of wins overall and a prize for Gallantry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All fencers MUST pass inspection before the tournament, and must present proof of authorization in their weapon styles of choice on the day of the tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fencers vying for the championship must have an SCA membership and participate and reside within the borders of Montengarde or the surrounding shires (Sandeshend and Windwyrm). Fencers vying for the championship must have an inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fencers wishing to vie for the championship must declare their intent to vie to Their Excellencies Montengarde, Baron Refr and Baroness \u00c1d\u00eds, by January 11, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Champion of Rapier must hold a tournament to select their successor at the next Twelfth Night. It is customary for the Champion to inspire participation in the fencing community, attend Their Excellencies Montengarde behind the thrones during court, and lead Montengarde\u2019s army into battle on the rapier field.
