So no parade on account of predicted high winds. If you still want to show off your stuff, the party has moved to a dance party at the stairs at 10:30 AM at the BMO Centre’s Grand Staircase.

Once again, there are plans for Avacal to appear in Canada’s largest pop culture parade, the POW! Parade of Wonders!
A few quick reminders …
- Getting garbed on site will be a challenge so best to garb up first and be prepared for some walking.
- Avoid steel weapons, including blunted blades. We might be able to get permission for rattan but currently we are erring on the side of No Weapons.
- Be prepared to have photos taken as this is a very public venue.
- We will be gathering at Central Memorial Park between 10 am and 10:15 so we can be sorted and ready to parade by 10:35 am.
- Althea will be the rallying point with sign in and an Avacal banner.
- Weather could go either way so be prepared for this is Avacal weather.
- More details will be posted by Thursday but expect them to be much like LAST TIME
NEW PARADE ROUTE

Our new, expanded route will parade the country’s best fans (and a few CALGARY EXPO celebs!) from Central Memorial Park through Victoria Park and 17th Avenue, right to CALGARY EXPO at the BMO Centre on Stampede Park in The Culture + Entertainment District.
For spectators, it’s the perfect opportunity to connect with neighbours and friends (and pups!) with coffee and lightsaber in hand, and be inspired by Calgary’s cosplay community’s creativity. Fan Zones along the way will give lots of chances for paraders and spectators to share their excitement together.
The parade concludes with the official Opening Ceremonies for the CALGARY EXPO in The Culture + Entertainment District: at the BMO Centre’s Grand Staircase on Stampede Park.
